Energy frontman TANK’s fave Energy tracks playlist

ENERGY ARE OFF ON TOUR WITH UPSET FAVES CREEPER, MILK TEETH AND PUPPY NEXT MONTH, AND HAVE AN ALBUM OF THEIR VERY OWN DUE TOMORROW (FRIDAY 3RD FEBRUARY) CALLED ‘APPARITION SOUND’. IT’S A DOOZY. TO CELEBRATE, THE BAND’S FRONTMAN TANK TALKS US THROUGH HIS VERY FAVOURITE ENERGY SONGS.

‘Another Yesterday’ seems to be the song that sticks with people the most when they hear our album ‘Apparition Sound’. It’s a straightforward, punk/pop song with melancholy melodies and lyrics about nostalgia. I’d say this one song sums up Energy pretty well generally speaking.

Dead In Dreamland
This is another one that seems to just click with people. A LOT of people have told me that this is their favourite song of ours, and it’s a fun singalong at every live show.

They
‘They’ is undeniably our best set closer, and it’s one of the most emotional songs I’ve ever written. It starts off quiet and stark but just keeps building and building until the final climactic ending. Another one that I always hear people praising when talking about ‘Apparition Sound’.

Walk Into The Fire
This song was written by former member Mike Rendini, but in my opinion remains one of the truest representations of what I want for Energy’s sound. Great dynamics, very dark, and has a massive chorus. One of our most intense songs live.

400
‘400’ is probably the most identifiable song when it comes to the band Energy. It’s from our “Invasions Of The Mind” album, and it quickly became our most popular song. Even during some of the worst nights on tour back in the mid-late 2000’s, the crowd usually came alive for at least this one song.

Hunter Red
Ever since we wrote it, ‘Hunter Red’ has been a great way to kick off our live set after our intro. The feedback in the beginning always feels like someone lit a stick of dynamite waiting to be thrown into the crowd once my vocals come in. The chorus is definitely a crowd pleaser, and I think that it’s still one of our best songs.

Hail The Size Of Grapes
Finally, there’s ‘Hail The Size Of Grapes’. This is just another song people really enjoyed from our Invasions record. The three tracks that I chose from that album are the three that are almost always in our live set. They’re unquestionably the most well-received songs from those sessions. It was the first song we wrote for ‘Invasions Of The Mind’, and it was definitely a pivotal moment for me as far as lyrical maturity goes. I would definitely still consider ‘Hail The Size Of Grapes’ to be one of our best.
