“Along with that I wanted to choose songs that were at least somewhat in the sonic ball park, e.g. they all have guitars in them. With that being said, we’ve been greatly influenced, and probably even more so, by the elements and attitudes these songs reflect that have nothing to do with sound. The less aesthetic and more ideological components.
“Most of these songs present content that is extremely personal and often expressed incredibly well and with great effect. A common theme among the selected songs is some degree of expressed idealism, or this sort of “raise your voice and say what you mean”-ness. There is (generally speaking) a simple honesty throughout them. The content often includes some amount expressed hope and that’s something we’ve really tried to stick to in our own expression.
“Some songs on here are just connected to personal experiences, and for us recall something unique and personal, which is something that is more or less much harder to communicate. But for the sake of presenting what I felt is a modest example of some of the things we value in the music we’ve found over time, I’ve included some of the more difficult to place connections.”
I’m Glad It’s You’s album ‘The Things I Never Say’ is out 4th November.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
