Reading & Leeds 2019: Stand Atlantic are raring to go

  • August 23, 2019
  • Upset

This Bank Holiday weekend, the likes of Twenty One Pilots, Foo Fighters, PVRIS, The Distillers and more will descend on Reading & Leeds for one of the biggest events of the music calendar. Taking their place amongst the buzz are Stand Atlantic, with Bonnie Fraser and co. already raring to go.

Hello Bonnie! How are you doing?

Hey! I’m doing quite nicely thank you, haha.

Have you enjoyed 2019 so far? What’ve been your highlights?
Definitely highlights for us so far would be doing our first headline tours in AUS and UK/EU – feels so rewarding to know all the hard work we’ve put in has paid off and people actually want to come and see us play now.

We hear you’re now officially a four-piece, congrats on the change – how’s that going?
We are! It feels so normal to us to be honest haha. Miki has been touring with us for so long we forgot he wasn’t even an official member haha! It was definitely time to make him part of the family officially, because he is.

Have you guys been working on new music together at all?
Always, baby!

Your recent team-up with Alex Lahey was fun; how did that come about?
It was really weird I think we were both just fans of each other’s music without the other one really knowing – then we were about to hit the road in AUS together and we thought it’d just be a cool thing to do for pride month to get Alex to feature on Skinny Dipping so we asked and she agreed. Was pretty organic! Haha.

Who are you most looking forward to seeing at Reading & Leeds this year?
Definitely Billie Eilish if we can make it work to see her. The 1975, Post Malone, King Princess, Hayley Kiyoko, No Rome… the list is endless.

Which of the headliners is your fave?
Gonna have to give it to The 1975 I think. Just got a soft spot for ’em and probably the only artist on that list that I’ve listened to the entire discography of haha.

Are there any bands you’d really like to see step up to festival headliner status next year?
The Band Camino, please.

Do you have anything special planned for your set, do you have it all worked out yet?
God, I don’t even think we’ve thought it through yet, to be honest! Haha. We got things pretty much down now we can probably sort one out the day before and be fine – not that we will! But… we could, lol.

What else have you got coming up?
More touring and then maybe something spicy towards the end of the year that I can’t say, haha.

Taken from the September issue of Upset. Reading & Leeds takes place from 23rd-25th August.
