It’s 2000trees weekend! Hooray. Three days of debauchery at Upcote Farm near Cheltenham, alongside 120 of the best rock bands around – including Upset faves Lower Than Atlantis, The Menzingers, The Front Bottoms, Nothing But Thieves, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Deaf Havana, Mallory Knox – and The Dirty Nil, who are attending for the first time.
Hey Kyle, how has 2017 been treating you so far?
This has already been one of the best years of my life. Working hard on new music and touring our asses off.
So you’re playing 2000trees soon – have you been before?
We have never been to 2000trees before but are looking forward to it. We’ve heard a lot of great things about it. Everyone seems to have a good time.
What’s your favourite thing about playing festivals like 2000trees?
If you’re lucky enough then Metallica is playing, and you can also watch then. Also the catering!
Are there any must-have items you try to take with you?
I think that you always need to bring an alcohol tolerance because you’re going to drink a lot. I really like to bring a camera with me though to take pictures of shit.
Are there any bands on the line-up you’re looking forward to catching up with, or seeing play?
I wish we were there when the Menzingers, Muncie Girls and Milk Teeth are playing.
Are you going to hang around all weekend to soak up the festival atmosphere?
We have a few shows with the Wonder Years around then so I think we will just be in and out.
What do you think makes the perfect festival set?
Play fast. Play hard. Bleed. Smile. Have a good time.
What else have you got coming up this year?
We have some festivals like Way Home and a Canadian tour with the Flatliners coming up. Also, some that are unannounced we can’t wait to tell people about. Keep your eyes and ears out.
2000trees takes place at Upcote Farm from 6th-8th July. Visit twothousandtreesfestival.co.uk for details and tickets.
