Fever 333’s ‘Strength In Numb333rs’ is a rallying cry for the disenfranchised

  • January 15, 2019
  • Upset

Label: Roadrunner Records / 333 Wreckords Crew
Released: 18th January 2019
Rating: ★★★★★

Rock bands fighting against the worst wrongs of society is nothing new. There’s a lineage that goes back far past the Rage Against The Machine and their defiant war cry, but they remain the measuring post for those that follow. Few, if any, make that grade. On their debut, Fever 333 definitively do.

Jason Aalon Butler’s post letlive. crew have that rarest of traits – authenticity. When they speak, it’s believable. There’s no overly wrought virtue signalling here. ‘Burn It’ is a guttural assault, and with its assertion of “we point our fingers while they point their guns”, it pulls no punches either. ‘Animal’ soars on the chorus and spits in the verse, pulling off anthemic without any of the usual shiny falsehoods, while ‘One Of Us’ may start with the playground refrain of a Brendon Urie special, but soon goes somewhere far darker.

Intrinsically political and unafraid, ‘Strength In Numb333rs’ is a rallying cry for the disenfranchised. Fever 333 aren’t just pissed off; they’re taking names. The revolution is here.
