There’s a lot to be said for not sticking in one lane. That’s a mantra The Faim have taken to their second album, ‘Talk Talk’.

With a nostalgic edge for pop-rock gone by, they’re pushing on everything from epic, driving anthems (madly, badly, fixed) to bubbling alt-pop (‘You (and my Addiction)’), shimmery folk (‘The Alchemist’), cinematic crooners (‘Faith In Me’) and flat out arena rock (‘Ease My Mind’).

That they deliver the lot with sure-handed confidence is a marker of just how adept the Aussie four-piece have become. ■ Dan Harrison
